The Website Project after Dark

Imagine my surprise when I found myself building websites again. I guess it was inevitable. Building websites can become a bit of an addiction, keeping you up until all hours of the night. When I needed a name for this website, I looked outside at the moon and realized that I always seemed to be typing away after dark on another website project. So there was my name, The Website Project after Dark.

My first attempt at building websites was about eight years ago. I taught myself some HTML and built two websites on free webspace. I didn’t own the domain names or anything associated with them. I spent the next three months trading links with other webmasters and promoting both sites. I was finally getting some traffic to show for my hard work when the hosting company sent me an e-mail. It said that they were going to go out of the website hosting business and that I was going to lose both of my websites and their domain names. All of my hard work was now for nothing. This is why I don’t like building sites on free web hosting and you won’t find many free companies listed here. It is better to buy yourself a domain name and pay for your web hosting. If not, you can end up like my sad story. I was so disgusted that I didn’t build another website for seven years.

But building websites is not always a choice. As I said before, it becomes an addiction. Eventually, I bought a new computer and wanted to use all of the cool stuff that came with it. I started reading about how much money people were making with Google Adsense Ads and a website, and I started to feel the urge to create one again. Of course, I couldn’t create just
one, so when I say “project”, I really mean it. This is my third website and I also have a blog. There are many more websites on the drawing board.

This time around, there are better tools and affiliate programs available. I am only going to list the best ones, the ones that I personally use, or once considered using. If you want to build a website or blog, you can benefit from all of my research and sleepless nights. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself up until the wee hours of the morning. You can take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. You can be assured that somewhere in New Jersey, I am also wide awake and still typing.

If you learned anything useful from this website and would like to donate to help with hosting fees, etc., you can click on the "donate" button. My 22-year-old car isn't going to last much longer. Any donations would be appreciated.
