The Website Project after Dark

Easy Traffic

Once you realize that you are never going to have enough time to write articles and submit to directories to get the traffic that you need for your website, the traffic exchanges and banner exchanges start to look better and better. When you get tired of looking at your statistics and seeing that you only had four visitors for the entire day, you start to get desperate. Many people complain that the visitors from a traffic exchange are not "targeted" visitors. They are only on the traffic exchange to get visitors to their own websites. For those of you who don't know--a traffic exchange is when I visit your website and then you are sent to visit mine. Google Adsense forbids you to use them. Your account will be closed. Some people are removing Adsense from their sites and replacing it with Adbrite or something else, so that they can promote their website any way that they want to. I won't put any of my websites that have Adsense on them on any traffic exchange. I have found another company called ClickMyAd that lets you put their ads anywhere and on anything. They also give you a free FFA site. I am creating a small website to put on the traffic exchanges. It has its own domain name. I am also including an About page and a Privacy Policy, so that it will qualify as a micro site. All of my websites are linked together. If someone sees one of my websites, they have the option to visit the other ones. Many people do click through to the other sites.

The best way to get noticed on the traffic exchanges is to make a splash page or squeeze page. A squeeze page is designed to just grab someone's e-mail address so that you can e-mail them later with your offers and the URL of your website. A splash page has a catchy headline and gets right to the point about what you are offering. It should not include video, sound, or pictures. It should load very quickly since you only have seconds to get the surfer's attention. Some people like to put a picture of themselves on it. These pages still need to be hosted somewhere. Many traffic exchanges will host it for you for free. I am just including them in my micro site and submitting the URL of that page. Another thing to beware of is that putting your site on the traffic exchanges uses a lot of bandwidth. If you have a host that limits bandwidth, you may exceed your limit quickly. This means that visitors won't be able to visit your site and your hosting company may try to charge you more money per month.

Some other things that you need to have are virus scan and a firewall on your computer. It is very rare, but there have been reports of websites on an exchange trying to download viruses into computers. Another handy tool is a browser such as Firefox that allows for tabbed browsing. Some people like to surf five traffic exchanges at one time. Firefox will also remember all of your passwords. Below is a list of the best exchanges to join. If used properly, they can be a valuable advertising tool. Click here for more traffic exchanges that do not appear below. Be sure to bookmark this website before you leave.

Be sure to also look at the Classified Ads page for some more easy traffic. I am going to try and list some sites that blast ads to thousands of websites in their network. Adland

Any person that signs up under you gets a free page with a link to your website in the corner. I have already seen results from this. The traffic exchange gives you 100% of the credits earned by your referrals. Click on the banner below to find out more.
